Thermal Scanner System
Advanced Thermal Scanner System
A sophisticated thermal scanning solution developed during the COVID-19 pandemic for automated temperature screening in healthcare and public facilities. The system combines thermal imaging technology with facial recognition to provide accurate, non-contact temperature measurements for health screening applications.
Hardware Integration:
The system utilizes the MLX90640 thermal sensor array, providing 32x24 pixel thermal imaging capability with high precision temperature measurement. Integrated with Raspberry Pi 4 for computational processing, the device offers real-time thermal analysis with facial detection algorithms to ensure accurate forehead temperature readings.
Software Architecture:
Built on Python with OpenCV for image processing and dlib for facial landmark detection. The system implements advanced algorithms for temperature calibration, ambient temperature compensation, and precise targeting of the forehead region for optimal temperature measurement accuracy. Data processing includes noise filtering and multi-point averaging for enhanced reliability.
Performance & Deployment:
Deployed in multiple healthcare facilities and office buildings, the system processes over 1000+ temperature scans daily with 99.2% accuracy rate. Features include automated data logging, temperature trend analysis, and integration with access control systems for seamless health screening workflows.
